Dear Tuula, Thank you so much for this tutorial it is always appreciated and I love learning new tips and techniques to help me improve my crochet 🧶 I also love the scenery I have nearly mastered your hold technique, I occasionally lapse into having my index finger pointed for tension, your technique gives me so much more control and I’m able to hold my piece with both hands especially if it has a lacy/drape it makes it much easier to work on… Thank you! How you do a 8 double crochet decrease

I don't use slip knots ever. When an aunt taught me to crochet when I was little she told me you never put knots in your work. Same for when she taught me embroidery - no knots!

I've done this for years and it looks so much better than a bulky knot!

I accidentally put a stitch through the slipknot once & I thought it looked nice and neat on the first row & then tried with a different piece & didn't look as nice. Probably was using a chunky yarn first time around 🤣

You always have great ideas! I tried standing & crocheting by accident and gave up on the whole idea bc my tension changed immediately. Precisely the reason i do not work in mohair. I make so many mistakes and frog so often i wld destroy the mohair. Saving most of yr videos to go back and watch.

Wow! How good is this? Thank you so very much. I’m making two temperature blankets with four time slots for each day of the year - yes I know madness. I can’t find the link to your clip using the above fabulous tips but including changing colour too. On one row I have a similar ft white border; 6.00am temperature for that day then a white separator before the midday time is crocheted in a different colour, then another white separator, a colour for the 6.00pm slot, yet another white separator followed by the temperature at midnight and the final white border, if that makes sense. In summary I have 9 colour changes in every row. The end of every month will just have row block in the white, which is actually a soft white. Any help would be welcome. Thank you again 🫶🏼

I have a yarn chicken tip that has saved me a few times on the last row or round, if I see I'm going to run out of yarn just shy of a few stitches to completion: I will redo the row or round, but YARN UNDER instead of yarn over. It uses slightly less yarn and does not change the look of the stitch so much that it would be noticeable.

Thank you for some new hints I hadn't seen. Winding the skein, using the,wooded spoon is perfect. Much of my yarn is in skeins, these days. ❤❤❤

I LOVE FREE FORM CROCHET!! Thank you for giving me the courage to have a try. Your explanation, as you moved from colour to colour, and to shape and to fill ins is clear, and informative. Maybe I was always looking for a pattern, while it should be a collection of shapes that fit together, pleasingly. A scarf is a great way to start. It's winter in Australia, so here goes!! 😮 😊 😊 😊

I love your tips! Just going through channels and saw yours and I would love to know for left handed crotchet person I am 50 and have been crocheting since I am 10. I am great at blankets my speciality but I am always struggling with certain patterns because I free crochet and just try different things. I learned from my mom rest her soul, she was a righty though lol so I just struggle with clothing and if you have tips for left handed people that would be helpful. The more you practice the better you get. I would love any tips via left handed

I was making a blanket from even squares, and before the last one, both yarns I was using went out of stock, EVERYWHERE T_T Then, as you mentioned tension, the lightbulb came to my brain...I can actually redo the blanket (pretty small too) so it can be a table cover- my cat sleeps on it anyway, so won't be such a big change at all for my original plan, still be useful, and I won't be frustrated by looking at all the time. Thank you! 🥰💜

I love your videos. The places you show us are so beautiful. Yes, these tips are very helpful. I wish I could hold my yarn that way. It looks for effortless. When I started, I tried different ways and landed on the double wrap around my index finger.

I prefer tapered hooks as well, and I will definitely heed your technique for keeping track of beginning and ending "straight stitches" with a double stitch from now on 🤓. I've crocheted since junior high school, yet still struggle with that. Though I don't make those often. I too will use your way of crocheting circles using your crochet T-shirt yarn idea 😊.

I like the concept of freeform crocheting... it's alot of thinking and planning out though. I love mindless crocheting 🤓.
